Solana – folk, world music fusion
Solana formed as a band in Valencia, Spain in 2012. Originally a 3-piece with Celtic folk roots, their line-up and style has rapidly expanded to incorporate such diverse influences as folk, swing, klezmer, flamenco, latin, reggae and trip-hop. Solana are now an established band on the UK festival circuit; the core group (drums, bass, Spanish guitar, violin, accordion and flute) are regularly joined by guest musicians from across Europe and beyond, and expand to a 9-piece for summer tours.
Their latest release “The Travelling Fayre” (2014) captures Solana’s unique energy, developed through extensive international touring, and has been well received both in the UK and on the continent.
Expect an eclectic fusion of styles, beautiful close harmonies and a healthy dose of improvisation. Solana’s sublime musicianship, intricate arrangements and driving rhythms make feet move and faces smile!
“Phenomenal live band, so much energy, foot stomping, hip swinging, arm waving, smile inducing magical music… Absolutely fantastic album, buy it, find out where they are playing next and watch them… You won’t regret it!”
“Plaintive Spanish guitars meet exuberant Celtic flutes and irrepressible fiddles in a feast of Jiggery-Polkary” John Blakely, Ear Trumpet Music.
“Solana offer charm and perfect execution” — Loris Bohm, LineaTrad.
